Lafayette 7, Richmond 0

EASTON, Pa. (AP) -- Brandon Stanford caught a 4-yard touchdown
pass from Brad Maurer and Richmond kicker Carter Ball missed three
field goals as Lafayette held for a 7-0 victory over the Spiders on
Saturday.

Three times the Spiders made it inside the Leopards' 20, but
Richmond (0-2) was turned away each time.

Lafayette (2-0) allowed just 88 yards after halftime and denied
Richmond any shot at scoring after the Spiders' first drive of the
second half ended in Ball's third missed field goal of the day.

The Leopards drove down to the Richmond 1 on their second drive
of the game but Maurer was turned away on a fourth-down sneak,
turning the ball over. The Lafayette defense held and Stanford set
up the Leopards' lone score with a 23-yard punt return down to the
Richmond 16. Three plays later, Maurer found Stanford in the back
of the end zone for the touchdown.

Lafayette twice had opportunities to extend its lead, but kicker
Rick Ziska missed a 46-yard field goal in the fourth and Jonathan
Hurt lost a fumble at the Richmond 19 after an interception by
Blake Costanzo gave the Leopards good field position.

Maurer finished 16-of-25 for 163 yards and one interception.
David Freeman rushed for 116 yards on 18 carries to lead Richmond.
