Colorado sets one-day record for football ticket sales

BOULDER, Colo. -- Colorado sold more than 6,300 tickets the
first day that single-game tickets for the upcoming football season
went on sale, the most sold in one day by CU, the school said.

Tickets went on sale Monday, and about 10,000 were gone in two
days. The number included about 100 season ticket packages.

In previous years, single-game tickets went on sale July 15.

Athletic director Mike Bohn also said CU may be able to match or
surpass last year's 7,778 season-ticket sales with one month left
to go before the Sept. 3 season opener against Colorado State in
Boulder.

It was welcome news for an athletic department struggling to
make ends meet while also rebounding from a sex and recruiting
scandal that contributed to the departures of athletic director
Dick Tharp, chancellor Richard Byyny and school president Betsy
Hoffman.
