Chipper Jones likely to sit out Wednesday vs. Reds

CINCINNATI -- Third baseman Chipper Jones will likely
sit out when the Atlanta Braves face the Cincinnati Reds on
Wednesday.

Atlanta won for the seventh time in eight games on Tuesday in
the series opener, but lost Jones in the fourth inning with a
shoulder injury. Jones, who sustained the injury diving for a
ground ball, is listed as day-to-day.

A four-time All-Star, Jones already has missed 37 games this
season with a foot injury. He is hitting just .286 with nine
homers this season but owns a career average of .303 with 319
homers.

Atlanta seeks another strong outing from Horacio Ramirez (9-6,
4.36 ERA), who has allowed three runs or fewer in six of his
last eight starts. The lefthander picked up the win Friday as
he yielded one run in eight innings of a 2-1 triumph over
Pittsburgh.

Ramirez is 8-2 with a 3.38 ERA at night this season, but owns a
3-5 mark with a 5.30 ERA on the road.

Cincinnati, which had its five-game winning streak snapped on
Tuesday, turns to Brandon Claussen (5-8, 4.71). The 26-year-old
lefthander snapped a personal four-game losing streak in his
last outing, yielding one run in seven innings of Thursday's 6-1
win over Los Angeles.

Claussen is 0-2 with a 5.59 ERA in his career against the
Braves. He has faced them once this year, allowing three runs
in 5 2/3 innings of a 5-2 loss on June 16.
