Agent: Nets agree to deal with McInnis

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Free agent guard Jeff McInnis has
reached an agreement with the New Jersey Nets, his agent said
Friday.

McInnis will sign a one-year deal with an option for a second,
Steve Kauffman said.

The 6-foot-4 McInnis can play both point guard, as a backup to
Jason Kidd, and shooting guard. He averaged 12.8 points for the
Cleveland Cavaliers last season.

The Nets had no comment, since free agent contracts cannot be
officially announced until the league's new collective bargaining
agreement is signed.

The McInnis deal comes about a week after the Nets reached
agreements with two other free agents, forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim
and forward Clifford Robinson. The Nets also signed their
first-round draft pick, Antoine Wright, a 6-7 guard who played
three seasons at Texas A&M.
