Soccer-United States, Germany storm up world rankings

LONDON, July 20 - The United States and Germany
leaped up the FIFA world rankings on Wednesday and the
Netherlands achieved their highest placing in more than 11
years.

The United States rose four places to their highest ranking
of sixth after reaching the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. They
face Honduras in the final on Thursday.

Germany jumped 10 places to 11th following their run to the
semi-finals of the Confederations Cup last month where they lost
to eventual winners Brazil, who remain top of the rankings.

Argentina moved up one place to second after reaching the
Confederations Cup final and the Netherlands also jump one place
to third, with the Czech Republic dropping two places to fourth.

Mexico are up one place to fifth while France, stuttering in
their World Cup qualification campaign, dropped below the U.S.
team, falling two places to seventh.
