Pickett earns milestone victory

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Greg Pickett won the Trans-Am Series
race at the Edmonton Grand Prix on Saturday, becoming the first
driver to get a victory in each of four decades of the circuit.

Rocketsports Racing teammates Tomy Drissi and Klaus Graf
finished second and third, also in Jaguars. Tim Barber won the GTA
Class.

Pickett took the lead from Drissi in turn six and led the final
two laps.

"This is very special moment for me," said Pickett, the 1978
Trans-Am champion. "I have a lot of emotion right now. This sport
has given me so much. I have enjoyed the camaraderie, the
competition, and my familys support over the years."

The caution-free race ran in a record 1 hour, 7 minutes and
39.048 seconds at an average speed of 89.243 mph.

Randy Ruhlman, who finished fourth in a Chevrolet Corvette,
holds the points lead going into the next race, July 30 at San
Jose, Calif..
