Dodgers activate SS Izturis from 15-day DL

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers, who have been
plagued by injuries all season, finally received some good news.

The Dodgers activated All-Star shortstop Cesar Izturis from the
15-day disabled list Friday.

Izturis had been sidelined since July 5 with a strained right
hamstring. The 2004 National League Gold Glove award winner
became the first of 18 Dodgers placed on the DL this year to be
activated in the minimum 15 days.

Izturis is batting .275 with one homer and 20 RBIs in 72 games.
In order to make room for him on the roster, the Dodgers
optioned righthander Franquelis Osoria to Class AAA Las Vegas.

Izturis' return is a welcome sight for Los Angeles. Former Cy
Young Award winner Eric Gagne and outfielders Milton Bradley and
J.D. Drew are among the key players sidelined.
