Pirates manager ejected in second inning

WASHINGTON -- Pittsburgh manager Lloyd McClendon was ejected
in the second inning of the Pirates' game against the Washington
Nationals on Thursday.

McClendon was walking back to the dugout after a meeting with
pitcher Kip Wells when he said something to home plate umpire Chris
Guccione. Guccione immediately threw out McClendon, who turned back
to the umpire. The two had a brief, heated exchange before
McClendon left the field.

It was the fourth time this season McClendon has been ejected.

The Pirates were trailing 1-0 and the Nationals had loaded the
bases in the second when McClendon met with Wells. After McClendon
was thrown out, the Pirates allowed three more runs before the end
of the inning.
