Salt Lake picks up defender, midfielder in trades

SALT LAKE CITY -- Real Salt Lake acquired defender Paul
Broome and the rights to midfielder Adlofo Gregorio in separate
trades Wednesday.

Real sent a second-round draft pick to the Los Angeles Galaxy
for Broome, who has started 87 of his 116 games. Salt Lake cleared
room on the roster for Broome by waiving defender Marlon Rojas on
Monday.

Gregorio, who played at UCLA and for the national Under-17 team
under Real coach John Ellinger, was acquired from the Colorado
Rapids for a 2007 first-round supplemental draft pick.
