Campbell says he'll stick with European Tour despite U.S. Open success

STRAFFAN, Ireland -- Despite his win at the U.S. Open two
weeks ago, Michael Campbell said he plans to remain a regular on
the European Tour.

"I've no reason to change. I tried America three, two years
ago, but it didn't work out," the 36-year-old New Zealander said
Wednesday before this week's European Open. "My kids go to school
in England. I'm just so established here. There's no way in the
world that I want to ruin the routine now. The processes I'm using
are obviously working."

Campbell said he only intends to play major tournaments and
world championship events in the United States.

"I hopes this sends a message to all European players that you
can win majors not playing in America," he said.

The victory at the U.S. Open also gave him confidence that he
can compete with the world's best players during the final round of
a major.

"I know if I'm ever leading once again in a major with nine
holes to play, or have a three-shot or two-shot lead with Tiger or
Vijay (Singh) or Ernie (Els) or Goosey (Retief Goosen) breathing
down my neck, I can still win," he said.

Last Sunday, Campbell invited about 100 people to a party in
celebration of the win. Now he said it's time to look forward.

"We had a good time with a dance floor and a DJ. The champagne
flowed quite freely," he said. "That was the last time to
celebrate my win. Now it's back to business."
