Soccer-Spurs set Friday deadline for Arnesen deal with Chelsea

LONDON, June 23 - Tottenham Hotspur have set a
Friday deadline for Chelsea to agree a compensation package for
luring Spurs' sporting director Frank Arnesen.

The clubs have been negotiating after Spurs suspended
Arnesen earlier this month claiming the Premier League champions
had made an approach to the Dane without their permission.

After the publication in British newspapers on Thursday of
photographs of Arnesen on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's
yacht, the north London club want the issued resolved this week.

"Having seen the photo, we have contacted Chelsea and set a
deadline for the matter to be resolved," Tottenham said in a
statement on their website.

"If we do not receive a satisfactory agreement by noon (1100
GMT) on Friday, we shall be making a formal complaint to the
FAPL (Football Association Premier League) and looking to
exercise other potential options."

Chelsea have denied Tottenham's accusation, saying they had
followed the appropriate procedures.

Arnesen's suspension came only three days after Chelsea were
fined 300,000 pounds (
