BISMARCK, N.D. -- Thompson jumped on Northern Cass for nine
runs in the first inning and went on to post an 18-4 win over
Northern Cass Friday in the semifinal of the state Class B baseball
tournament.
In the second semifinal, Grafton beat Velva-Drake 9-7.
The Tommies banged out 18 hits off three Northern Cass pitchers.
Thompson pitcher Scott Schumacher had three of those, including a
double, two runs scored and three runs batted in.
Schumacher took a no-hitter into the fifth before settling for a
five-hit win.
