St. Louis Cardinals Organization Report

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that RHP Cal Eldred, who has
been on the disabled list since April 11 due to a viral
infection, will throw a simulated game Sunday. Eldred will then
go to Class AA Springfield and throw another simulated game.
If both sessions go well, Eldred will begin his rehab assignment
shortly - most likely in Springfield. ... Class AAA Memphis
sports the top pitching staff in the Pacific Coast League. Three
of the Redbirds starters rank among the league ERA leaders -
Adam Wainwright (2.43), Chris Gissell (2.47) and Anthony Reyes
(2.52). ... Reyes was recently named the PCL Pitcher of the
Week. Reyes threw a one-hit shutout en route to his fifth
straight win. The Cardinals' top pitching prospect has given up
more than three runs just once in eight PCL starts and has a
1.64 ERA since his lone loss on April 16. ... Class A Palm
Beach's RHP Chris Lambert, a 2004 first-round pick, allowed two
unearned runs in seven innings Friday night in his attempt to
improve on his 7-1 record. ... OF Rick Ankiel was activated from
the disabled list at Springfield and sent to Class A Quad
Cities. After struggling at Springfield, Ankiel has eight RBIs
in five games with two home runs and two doubles. ... 3B Jake
Mullinax of Quad Cities has an 11-game hitting streak tying him
for the team's longest streak of the season. ... Palm Beach's OF
Cody Haerther is batting .314 with 23 extra-base hits,
including a league-leading seven triples.
