SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Silver Stars try to
avert an 0-3 start when they host the Sacramento Monarchs on
Friday.
After winning three of its first four games last season, San
Antonio lost its next eight contests and finished the season
9-25.
The Silver Stars followed a season-opening defeat to the Houston
Comets by suffering a 74-65 loss to the Detroit Shock on
Tuesday.
LaToya Thomas and Wendy Palmer scored 16 points apiece for the
Silver Stars, who were outscored 16-0 in the final 3:11.
Sacramento has not played since posting a 77-72 win over the
Phoenix Mercury in its season opener on Saturday.
Nicole Powell and DeMya Walker scored 13 points apiece for the
Monarchs, who held the Mercury to 30 percent (18-of-60) shooting
from the floor.
Sacramento has won five of the last six meetings against San
Antonio and leads the overall series, 15-13.
