Chi White Sox (33-15) at Texas (27-20), 8:05 pm EDT

ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) -- A pair of rookie righthanders face
each other Friday when the red-hot Texas Rangers host the
Chicago White Sox in the opening game of a three-game series.

Texas, which has won six in a row, hands the ball to Chris Young
(4-2, 3.22 ERA), who leads all rookies in ERA, is tied for
first in wins and is second with 38 strikeouts. The 26-year-old
righthander allowed two runs in five innings Saturday in an
18-3 win over Houston, as he improved to 3-1 with a 1.69 ERA in
his last five starts.

Chicago's Brandon McCarthy (0-0, 3.38) makes his second career
start. The 21-year-old righthander allowed two runs in 5 1/3
innings in his debut Sunday against the Chicago Cubs. He went
3-4 with a 4.72 ERA and a league-leading 61 strikeouts for Class
AAA Charlotte prior to his promotion.

The White Sox have won six of their last nine games, but dropped
the series finale to Anaheim on Thursday. Jose Contreras
cruised into the seventh inning before surrendering a two-run
homer to Dallas McPherson that provided the difference in the
3-2 loss, dropping Chicago to 4-3 on its 10-game road trip.

Texas extended its season-high winning streak Thursday as
Richard Hidalgo belted his fifth homer in as many games and
Kenny Rogers allowed just one run in seven innings in an 8-1
victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Chicago won six of nine meetings between the squads last year.
