ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - Mark Mulder defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates
on April 18, and he has not lost since.

The 27-year-old lefthander looks to extend his personal winning
streak to seven games Wednesday when the St. Louis Cardinals
continue their series with the Pirates at Busch Stadium.

Mulder (6-1, 3.71 ERA) allowed just an unearned run in eight
innings on April 18 to improve to 3-0 with a 2.01 ERA in three
career starts against the Pirates.

In this one, Mulder will be called upon to log innings after the
Cardinals used five relievers in Tuesday's 2-1 win. Yadier
Molina's 12th-inning single plated the winning run for the
Cardinals, who won their 11th straight game against the Pirates.

The Pirates scored their lone run Tuesday on Jason Bay's
first-inning homer. The Pirates were held scoreless over the
final 11 frames, and also left 11 runners on base in losing for
the fifth time in seven games.

Pittsburgh starter Mark Redman (3-3, 2.48) won his second
consecutive start Friday, tossing 6 1/3 strong innings in a 9-4
win over Colorado. The 31-year-old lefthander has worked at
least six innings in all nine of his starts, and has allowed two
earned runs or fewer in six of those outings.
