LSU forward Jones won't use senior eligibility

BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU starting forward Wendlyn Jones, who
is slated to graduate in August and has struggled with two major
knee injuries during her college career, has decided not to return
to the Lady Tigers basketball team for her final season of
eligibility, head coach Pokey Chatman said Thursday.

Jones, a native of Bylthville, Ark., started all 36 games last
season as LSU won the Southeastern Conference regular season title
and made a second straight appearance in the NCAA women's Final
Four.

Jones averaged 4.7 points and 5.1 rebounds last season, leaving
her career numbers at 5 points and 4.3 rebounds in 93 games.

"Wendlyn has been an integral part of the success our program
has enjoyed in recent years. Her experience and competitiveness
will be missed next season," Chatman said. "The wear and tear of
competition has taken a toll on her body and we have agreed she
will not return for her senior season. She will graduate this
summer and will go on to do great things in life."

Jones has been pursuing a degree in psychology.
