Class AAA Oklahoma OF Jason Botts recently had a stretch of 10
games where he batted .389 with two home runs and five RBIs. The
switch hitter is batting .295 with nine home runs and 25 RBIs
this season. Botts' .605 slugging percentage is 12th in the
Pacific Coast League. ... RHP Ricardo Rodriguez is trying to
prove his worth so he can return to the major league squad.
Rodriguez, who had a fractured right elbow end his season last
year, pitched a shutout on May 7 for Oklahoma. But in his next
outing, Rodriguez gave up six runs on 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings.
He is 4-3 with a 3.10 ERA in seven starts this season. ... On
Saturday against Visalia, Class A Bakersfield RHP Thomas Diamond
improved to 4-0 this season, allowing just one run on five hits
while recording seven strikeouts. Diamond, the 10th overall
choice in last year's draft, has a 2.87 ERA and 44 strikeouts in
only 37 2/3 innings.
