Reds put Aurilia on DL

CINCINNATI -- The Reds placed shortstop Rich Aurilia on the
15-day disabled list Wednesday with a strained hamstring, and
called up right-hander Elizardo Ramirez from Triple-A Louisville.

The move to bring up Ramirez protects the team in case
left-hander Brandon Claussen has to miss his next start. Claussen
twisted an ankle in the fourth inning of Reds' 5-1 victory over San
Diego on Tuesday night.

Aurilia was hitting .198 when he strained his left hamstring
while running out a ground ball Tuesday night, forcing him from the
game. Aurilia is in a 4-for-32 slump.

His injury opens the way for Felipe Lopez to take over at
shortstop.

Ramirez was 2-1 with a 3.32 ERA in six starts for Louisville. He
made his major league debut last year with Philadelphia. The Reds
got him as part of a trade that sent Cory Lidle to the Phillies
last season.
