FROSINONE, Italy, May 11 - Italy's Luca Mazzanti
won the fourth stage of the Giro d'Italia from Giffoni Valle
Piana to Frosinone on Wednesday after Paolo Bettini was
disqualified from first place for dangerous riding.
Italian Bettini blocked Australia's Baden Cooke in the final
100 metres of the stage and Cooke crashed into the roadside
barriers. He was not hurt and crossed the line on foot.
Mazzanti was second over the line behind Bettini and was
awarded the stage victory.
Thursday's fifth stage is a hilly 223-km ride from Celano to
L'Aquila in central Italy.
