Connecticut Sun waive injured guard Futrell

UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- The Connecticut Sun waived second-year
guard Candace Futrell, who injured her right ankle playing in
Israel in the offseason.

The 5-foot-10 Futrell recently had surgery on the ankle and
could be out of action for as long as four months.

Team officials said releasing the former Duquesne star was an
economic decision. Sun coach Mike Thibault said keeping Futrell on
the injured list would have counted against the team's salary cap.

"She has several months of rehab ahead of her, and we look
forward to re-signing her when she is physically able to play
again," Thibault said.
