Georgia Tech freshman transferring to another school

ATLANTA -- Georgia Tech guard Zam Fredrick will transfer to
another school after getting little playing time as a freshman.

Coach Paul Hewitt said Tuesday that Fredrick asked for and
received his release from the school.

The 6-foot Fredrick averaged 1.6 points and 0.8 assists in 19
games for Yellow Jackets, who went 20-12 and were eliminated in the
second round of the NCAA tournament.

There wasn't much playing time for Fredrick at point guard
behind All-Atlantic Coast Conference pick Jarrett Jack and senior
Will Bynum.

Jack, a junior, hasn't decided whether return for his final
season or enter the NBA draft. Georgia Tech has signed high school
point guard Austin Jackson.
