ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- After losing their season
opener, the Texas Rangers turn to 40-year-old lefthander
Kenny Rogers when they face the Los Angeles Angels of
Anaheim on Wednesday.

Rogers posted a career-high 18 wins last season and had a
2.25 ERA in two starts at Edison Field in 2004.

Behind a strong start from Bartolo Colon and a homer and
two RBI from reigning American League Most Valuable Player
Vladimir Guerrero, the Angels posted a 3-2 victory over the
Rangers on Tuesday.

Making his fifth career Opening Day start, Colon yielded a
run and six hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out five and
walking four.

He was staked to an early lead on Guerrero's first-inning solo
shot. Guerrero also had an RBI double in the sixth.

New Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez struck out one in a
scoreless ninth for the save.

Jarrod Washburn gets the call for Anaheim, hoping to reverse a
troubling trend that has seen his ERA rise each of the last two
seasons. Washburn struggled at home in 2004 - posting a 5.76
ERA - and was 0-2 vs. Texas.
