Stewart become first black winner in 250cc Supercross

IRVING, Texas -- James Stewart became the first black rider
to win a 250cc THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series
race, beating series star Ricky Carmichael on Saturday night in
front of 43,276 fans at Texas Stadium.

Stewart, from Haines City, Fla., led all 20 laps on his
Kawasaki.

"I'm so happy," Stewart said. "I just want to tell my parents
thanks for everything. I have one under my belt and now I know how
it feels.

"It took me three races to win my first 250cc race. I didn't
have a front brake for most of the race, so it was tough, but I
made it work.

Also, Kawasaki's Grant Langston raced to his third 125cc Eastern
Regional THQ AMA Supercross Series victory of the season.
