Culpepper leads Americans in Boston Marathon field

BOSTON -- Three-time winner Catherine Ndereba and defending
champion Timothy Cherigat are back in the field for the Boston
Marathon on April 18.

Last year's men's runner-up, Robert Cheboror of Kenya, will try
again in Boston after running 2:06:23 to win at Amsterdam. It was
second-fastest time in the world last year.

Alan Culpepper, who finished 12th at the Olympics in the
marathon, is the top American in the field for the 109th edition of
the 26.2-mile race from Hopkinton to Boston's Back Bay.

Ndereba will go for an unprecedented fourth women's title. Five
women who finished in the top 10 at the Athens Olympic and five
national record holders will try to beat her, including 2004
runner-up Elfenesh Alemu of Ethiopia.
