Soccer-Injured Mjallby terminates contract with Levante

MADRID, March 14 - Levante's Swedish international
Johan Mjallby agreed on Monday to terminate his contract with
the club from the end of March, after failing to recover from a
knee injury he sustained in October.

The 34-year-old central defender injured his right knee
while playing for Sweden and has not played a game for the
Primera Liga club since then.

Levante's legal representative Jose Benet told the sports
daily Marca that the club had come to an agreement with the
player after lengthy discussions.

"The player will receive everything due to him until March
30 this year, and we would like to thank him for his gentlemanly
conduct and professionalism throughout," said Benet.

Mjallby joined Levante from Celtic on a two-year contract
last July after they won promotion to the Primera Liga. He had
only started three games this season.
