Minnesota 4, Toronto 1

DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) -- Carlos Silva threw four strong innings and
the Minnesota Twins beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 on Saturday.

Silva had the longest outing of the spring for a Twins starter.
He allowed one run and four hits, striking out one. He threw 45
pitches, 31 for strikes.

"I didn't throw many pitches the first couple, three innings,"
Silva said. "I didn't throw many breaking pitches, I pretty much
used my sinker today."

Toronto starter Pete Walker went two innings and allowed one
hit, Michael Cuddyer's first homer of the spring. He walked one and
struck out one.

Vinnie Chulk took the loss, allowing two runs on back-to-back
doubles by Jacque Jones and Justin Morneau and a sacrifice fly by
Michael Ryan in the fourth inning.

Francisco Liriano pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save
of the spring.

Toronto's Reed Johnson went 2-for-3 with a double.

Game notes
Toronto LHP Ted Lilly (left shoulder tendinitis) played
long toss and is expected to throw off a mound on Wednesday. ... OF
Alex Rios (right shoulder tendinitis) has resumed throwing and
should see playing time in right field by midweek.
