BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Ticker) -- No. 14 Alabama has a chance
to clinch the Southeastern Conference's Western Division title
Tuesday when it faces Louisiana State at the Pete Maravich
Assembly Center.

The Crimson Tide, who are 10-2 in conference play, shot 51
percent (28-of-55) from the floor in extending their winning
streak to four games with an 87-68 victory over South Carolina
on Saturday.

Leading scorer Kennedy Winston scored 19 points and Chuck Davis
had 18 on 5-of-7 shooting for Alabama, which is off to its best
start in conference play since 1987 - coach Mark Gottfried's
senior season. Davis has averaged a team-best 17 points over the
last five games.

The Crimson Tide, who already have swept the season series from
SEC West opponents Arkansas and Ole Miss, halted a three-game
losing streak against the Tigers with a 73-58 home triumph on
January 8.

Winston scored 21 points and Earnest Shelton added 19 as four
Alabama players scored in double figures. Freshman Glen Davis
paced LSU with 13 points.

The Tigers, who are 12-1 at home this season, have won four of
their last five games, including a 77-73 victory over then No.
24 Florida on Saturday. Brandon Bass scored 27 points on 8-of-10
shooting and Antonio Hudson posted 16 points with three
3-pointers.
