Take a quick look back at last week's games and a first glance at the upcoming games for the Top 25.

1. Tulane
Last week: 3-0. Overall: 3-0, 0-0 in C-USA. (0-0 vs. Top 25).

Notes: Jr. LHP Brian Bogusevic struck out a career-high 13 Friday in a gem (8 IP, 2 H, 0 BB). A slight left hamstring pull kept him out of the batting order, but he did deliver a three-run pinch-hit double to break a 3-3 tie in game 1 of the doubleheader. Sophomore LF/DH Mark Hamilton collected three homers and seven RBI. Junior 1B/RHP Micah Owings homered in both games of the DH and pitched G1 (ND, 7 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K). The third-highest Turchin Stadium crowd ever (3,664) came to the opener.

2. LSU

Notes: LSU homered four times Friday and Sr. LHP Lane Mestepey allowed two hits and no earned runs in seven innings. The Tigers pounded out 20 hits Saturday, and all nine starters had at least one for Soph. LHP Clay Dirks (6 IP, 2 H, ER, 5 K). Fr. DH Jordan Mayer used a triple and a homer to drive home six of the 19 Saturday runs. Rain moves the final game to Monday.

3. Cal State Fullerton

Notes: Jr. LHP Ricky Romero (7+ IP, H, 0 R, 4 BB, 7 K) carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning Saturday, and Jr. LHP Ryan Schreppel (8 IP, H, 9 K) went 6 2/3 before yielding a hit Sunday. Sr. 3B Ronnie Prettyman delivered six hits and five RBI in the series to help Fullerton out-hit Fresno 27-3.

4. Texas

Notes: Texas needed a four-run ninth Saturday to pull out a win. Sr. RHP Clayton Stewart pitched in three of the week's four games and didn't allow a run, earning two wins against UNLV. Jr. C Taylor Teagarden drove in six runs on the weekend, including a two-run shot during the ninth-inning rally. Sr. 2B Seth Johnston (GW RBI on Saturday) and Soph. CF Drew Stubbs have hit safely in every game this year.

5. Miami

Notes: Soph. RHP Chris Perez recorded a career-high nine strikeouts (6 IP, 5 H 2 R) Sunday to clinch the sweep for the Hurricanes, who are off to their best start since 1992 and best of the Jim Morris era. Jr. RHP Cesar Carillo didn't start a game, but pitched three innings Saturday for a save. Jr. Danny Figueroa returned to the lineup (ankle) as the DH. Jr. RF Brendan Katin enjoyed two three-hit games in the series.

6. Stanford

Notes: Soph. 3B Adam Sorgi (4-5, 2 RBI) delivers a game-winning double in the bottom of the ninth Sunday to clinch the sweep after Stanford allowed five Kansas runs in the top half of the frame. Fr. RHP Nolan Gallagher (5 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 5 K) earned the Sunday start in place of Soph. RHP Greg Reynolds. Jr. 2B Jed Lowrie hit his fourth homer of the year Sunday. Jr. RHP Jeff Gilmore remains Stanford's best pitcher (7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, ER in G2 Saturday).

7. South Carolina

Notes: Sr. RHPs Aaron Rawl (7 IP, 4 H ER) and Zac McCamie (6 IP, 7 H, ER) win semi-close games before the offense exploded Sunday. Jr. CF Davy Gregg collected seven hits in the series while Jr. SS Steve Tolleson and Jr. LF Michael Campbell had six. Soph. LHP Forrest Beverly struck out seven over four innings Sunday in his first action following Tommy John surgery. South Carolina played without Sr. 3B Steve Pearce and pitchers Cliff Donald, Jason Fletcher, Arik Hempy, Andy Lambert and Tim McCarty, who were all suspended six games by the school for receiving an extra benefit (complimentary golf at a local course).

Notes: Soph. LHP Cory Van Allen delivered Baylor's top performance of the weekend in the biggest game with a career-best eight strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings (7 H, ER, 0 BB) Sunday against Rice. (He combined on a no-hitter in his first start of 2004.) Baylor had lost its last six to Rice. Sr. C/DH Josh Ford collected four hits Friday, and one in each of the next two games.

9. Georgia

Notes: Senior SS Josh Smith (.314-4-40 in 2004) will miss the first six games of the season for violating Georgia athletic department policy. He will be able to practice with the team. Junior Matt Dunn, a transfer from Virginia, will take his place in the lineup.

10. Arizona

Notes: Arizona has scored double-digit runs in its last five games; 19 of the 44 hits vs. Northern Colorado were for extra bases. Soph. OF Bill Rhinehart hit two homers and collected six RBI Satruday. Jr. RHP John Meloan (6 IP, H, 0 R, 9 K) has won his last 12 decisions dating to 2004. The Wildcats staff recorded 35 strikeouts in 25 innings for the series and has 73 Ks against 11 walks in six games.

11. Arizona State

Notes: What to make of the Sun Devils? They needed a three-run ninth-inning rally to win last Monday (after allowing four in the top of the inning), then get shut out by Gonzaga Jr. LHP Patrick Donavan (7 IP, 4 H) Sunday. It was nearly a year to the day (2/15/04) that Oklahoma ended ASU's 506-game scoring streak. Jr. LHP Erik Averill threw his second straight complete game Saturday (ER, BB, 8 K). Sr. 1B Jeff Larish showed signs of life with two home runs and six RBI on the week. Fr. DH Rocky Laguna tied a school record with four steals Monday.

The Huskies played without Jr. OF Zach Clem (hamstring pull), Soph. RHP Richie Lentz (right hand injury) and Jr. RHP Keaton Everitt (ill).

Soph. LHP Jason Meyer (7 IP, 5 H, R) earned the win Friday, while Sr. RHP Clayton Turner (5.1 IP, 7 H, 2 R) pitched well Saturday.

(Charleston Southern has been tough on Fridays, losing 2-1 at Florida State.) Jr. RHP Alan Horne was solid Saturday (ND, 6 IP, 5 H, ER, 5 K) in his first Division I start since 2003. Sr. CF Jeff Corsaletti tied his career-high with six RBI Sunday; he hit .556 on the weekend.

Notes: Well, the Owls can still pitch. They did leave 12 on base in Sunday's loss, so the hitting could use a boost. Jr. RHP Josh Geer (8 IP, H, R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) retired 21 straight A&M batters at one point, and induced 16 groundouts. Fr. LHP Joe Savery rang up nine strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings against Oklahoma State after recording 10 last week. Fr. C Danny Lehman homered and went 2-for-4 Friday, continuing a nice start to his career.

Notes: Washington has great pitching, but Irvine's was better this weekend. Soph. RHP Justin Cassel retired the first 11 Huskies Sunday en route to a four-hit complete-game shutout. He struck out six. Jr. RHP Chris Nicoll (7 IP, 4 H, R, 8 K) was equally impressive in the first game Saturday. Jr. 3B Matt Anderson collected six hits, including two doubles and a triple, and three RBI in the series.

20. Long Beach State

Notes: Jr. LHP Cesar Ramos (6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER) and Soph. RHP Jared Hughes (4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 K in his debut) pitched well, but in a rare occurrence the Beach gets out-pitched. LBSU batted .324 for the weekend, but left 19 runners on base. In worse news, Jr. SS Troy Tulowitzki had surgery on his left wrist and isn't expected back until April.

21. Georgia Tech

Notes: Tech got just four hits in the opening loss, but pounded out 29 over the next two games. Jr. RHP Jason Neighborgall can't take blame for the L on Friday (5 IP, 5 H, ER, 2 BB, 4 K). Jr. RF Jeremy Slayden, who missed all but nine games in 2004 with a shoulder injury, and Soph. 3B Wes Hodges each hit two home runs over the weekend.

Sr. 2B Brian Hanson drove in five runs, and Sr. SS Michael Hollimon homered and drove in four Sunday. Jr. OF Travis DeBondt was limited to only a pinch-hit opportunity because of a twisted left ankle.
