Commodores extend winning streak to 4 games

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Ashley Earley scored 17 points and Vanderbilt (No. 20 ESPN/USA Today, No. 21 AP) extended its winning streak to four games with a 66-64 win over Auburn on Thursday night.

Abi Ramsey hit a 3-pointer with 50 seconds remaining to give Vanderbilt a 66-62 lead. Alexis Ogubie scored on a backdoor layup to pull Auburn within two points. Vanderbilt's Dee Davis missed at the other end and Auburn's Taneshia Thompson missed a shot as time expired.

Ramsey and Davis each finished with 12 points as Vanderbilt (17-5, 6-3 Southeastern Conference) defeated Auburn for the ninth straight time.

Natasha Brackett scored 16 of her 20 points in the first half for Auburn (12-10, 3-6). Louise Emeagi and Marita Payne each added 14 points and Ogubie finished with 12. Payne also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Vanderbilt erased an early 12-8 deficit with a 13-2. Auburn scored the last five points of the first half and trailed 33-31 at the break.

Auburn closed within 63-62 with 1:50 remaining on a pair of free throws by Ogubie before Ramsey made her 3-pointer.
