Bogaliy leads Russian 1-2 finish in 15K women's biathlon

SAN SICARIO, Italy -- Anna Bogaliy edged fellow Russian Olga
Pyleva in a women's 15-kilometer individual World Cup biathlon on
Thursday.

Bogaliy overcame a penalty in shooting to win in 50 minutes,
47.9 seconds in Italy's western Alps.

Pyleva, the World Cup overall leader, also had one penalty but
finished 26.5 seconds behind.

Germany's Kati Wilhelm placed third with two penalties and a gap
of 48.6 seconds behind Bogaliy.

Pyleva leads the standings with 530 points, 28 ahead of
second-place Wilhelm. France's Sandrine Bailly is third with 476
after finishing sixth.

The biathlon, a test event for the 2006 Turin Olympics,
continues on Friday with a men's 10K sprint.
