Providence G McGrath ties NCAA record

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island - Providence guard Donnie
McGrath tied an NCAA record by making nine 3-pointers without a
miss Tuesday against Virginia.

McGrath, a junior, was 9-of-9 from the arc and scored a
career-high 27 points in the Friar's 98-79 victory over the
Cavaliers.

Only two other players have made nine 3-pointers without a miss.
Markus Wilson of Evansville in 1998 and Mark Poag for Old
Dominion in 1997.

The all-time school record for 3-pointers in a game is 10, set
by Donta Wade on December 23, 2000 against Notre Dame.

McGrath, who had made 60 percent (12-of-20) of his 3-point
attempts in his previous four games, is shooting 41 percent
(45-of-111) from the arc in 20 games this season.
