ROME, Jan 29 - Serie A strugglers Chievo Verona
climbed six points clear of the relegation zone with a 1-0 home
win over Livorno on Saturday.
The result gave Chievo 25 points from 21 games and lifted
them to 13th in the 20-team table ahead of Sunday's matches.
Mid-table Livorno failed to reproduce the form that earned
them a 1-0 win over Italian champions AC Milan last weekend, and
rarely looked likely to score.
Chievo went ahead in the 31st minute when striker Simone
Tiribocchi ran onto a chip by team mate Fabio Moro and angled a
shot in off the post.
He could have added a second midway through the second half
when he broke the offside trap but fired straight at goalkeeper
Marco Amelia.
In Saturday's late match relegation-threatened Parma host
third-placed Udinese.
