MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) -- Claire Coggins and Shana Wheeler scored
11 points apiece and No. 20 Kansas State used a big second half for
a 74-50 victory over Texas A&M on Wednesday. Kendra Wecker and Megan Mahoney each added 10 points and eight
rebounds for the Wildcats (13-3, 4-1 Big 12), who outscored the
Aggies 47-27 in the second half for their fourth straight win. Morenike Atunrase had 13 points and five rebounds to lead Texas
A&M (11-4, 2-3), which has already amassed more wins than each of
the past two seasons. Leading 27-23 at halftime, Coggins opened the second half with a
3-pointer and combined with Wecker for 12 straight points,
triggering a 27-5 spurt that gave the Wildcats a 54-28 lead with
11:54 to go. Kansas State, which shot 36 percent (9-of-25) in the first half,
hit 20-of-28 second-half field goals (71 percent). The Aggies led 9-1 in the opening five minutes. The Wildcats'
Chelsea Domenico hit a 3-pointer to trigger a 16-6 run that
featured six different scorers. Wecker, the league's leading scorer (21.4 ppg), was just 1-for-8
from the field in the first half when Kansas State committed 10
turnovers.
