Sam Houston St. 63, Stephen F. Austin 57

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- Chris Jordan and Ryan Bright each
scored 14 points as Sam Houston State beat Stephen F. Austin 63-57
Saturday night.

Sam Houston State (8-6, 2-1 Southland Conference) led by as much
as 12 points in the second half but saw Stephen F. Austin (7-7,
1-2) close the gap late.

Marcus Clark, who converted all 11 of his free throws, led the
Lumberjacks with 23 points and Anthony Paez added 16.

Bright hit a pair of free throws to put Sam Houston State ahead
53-41 with six minutes left.

Stephen F. Austin cut the deficit to five points with 2:30 left
but could get no closer the rest of the way.

The Bearkats shot 56 percent (20-of-36) from the field while the
Lumberjacks struggled by shooting 35 percent (18-of-51).

Stephen F. Austin led 23-19 late in the first half, but Sam
Houston State rallied to take a 26-25 halftime lead. The Bearkats
did not trail in the second half.
