San Jose State 88, Louisiana Tech 87

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Marquin Chandler made two free throws
with less than five seconds left to lift San Jose State to an 88-87
victory over Louisiana Tech on Thursday night.

Chandler scored seven of his 20 points in the final three
minutes as the Spartans (4-9, 1-3 Western Athletic) snapped a
seven-game losing streak. Alex Elam added a career-high 24 points
and Michael McFadden had 14. Donta Watson scored 13.

Paul Millsap, the nation's third-leading rebounder, led
Louisiana Tech (6-8, 1-4 Western Conference) with 25 points and 12
rebounds. Corey Dean added a season-high 23 while Donell Allick and
Wayne Powell each had 12. The Bulldogs lost their fourth straight,
their longest losing streak in two years.

Both teams recorded season highs in points and points allowed.
The Spartans beat Louisiana Tech last year for their lone
conference victory.

Dean scored six points during a 13-5 run that gave Louisiana
Tech a 58-53 lead with 17:19 remaining to play but the Spartans
responded with a 10-2 run to regain the lead four minutes later.

Dean's short jumper with 5:55 remaining tied the game at 74.
There were six lead changes in the final four minutes before
Chandler hit his foul shots.

San Jose State grabbed the early lead when McFadden hit a
3-pointer at the 14:44 mark. The Spartans retained the advantage,
leading by as many as nine, the rest of the first half.

The Bulldogs pulled to 47-45 at halftime when Eric Woods threw
up a 3-pointer from just inside the half court line.
