Wizards activate Thomas; place Brown on injured List

WASHINGTON -- The Wizards activated Etan Thomas from the
injured list and placed former No. 1 pick Kwame Brown on it
Wednesday before Washington played the Portland Trail Blazers.

Thomas missed the Wizards' 32 games after sustaining an
abdominal strain during training camp in October.

"I have been out for a long time, so of course I'm going to be
pretty rusty," the 6-foot-10 Thomas said. "Everybody has it
rolling pretty good, so I am going to come in and try and
contribute any way that I can."

The Wizards (19-13) counted on Thomas being a major contributor
after they matched Milwaukee's six-year, $38 million offer sheet
during the offseason. Thomas averaged a career-high 8.9 points last
season.

Brown is sidelined by tendinitis in his right ankle.

The fourth-year player, chosen first overall in the 2001 draft,
has averaged 5.6 points in 14 games for the Wizards this season.
Brown missed the first 12 games of the season with a broken foot
and sat out four games after injuring his right ankle Dec. 27 in
the first half against Charlotte.

Brown also missed Saturday's win over Minnesota after hurting
the ankle again in practice.
