Western Michigan 84, Akron 75

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) -- Ben Reed scored a game-high 36 points,
half of them on 3-pointers, to lead Western Michigan to an 84-75
victory over Akron on Saturday.

It was the 23rd consecutive home win for the defending MAC
champion Broncos (10-3, 3-0 Mid-American) and marks the
second-longest streak in the nation behind Wisconsin's 35.

Darryl Peterson led Akron (7-5, 1-3) with 18 points, hitting
eight of eight free throws. Rick McFadden scored 15, Cedrick
Middleton had 13 and Romeo Travis had 11 before fouling out.

Levi Rost was perfect from three-point range and the foul line,
adding 18 points for the Western Michigan. Joe Reitz scored 12.
Rost also had a game-high nine boards as the Broncos outrebounded
the Zips 40-32.

Three consecutive baskets by Reed -- two of them 3-pointers -- led
Western Michigan back from a six-point deficit, giving them a 65-63
lead with 7:28 to go in the game.

Reed, who tied a career-high in scoring, hit 12-of-19 and had
three assists playing a game-high 35 minutes. He had a slam dunk
and converted two free throws in the final minute. He's scored 62
points in his last two games.
