Schnyder, Stosur advance to final

GOLD COAST, Australia -- Samantha Stosur of Australia
reached her first WTA final with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 victory over
Silvia Farina Elia at the Australian women's hard-court
championships Friday.

Stosur will go for her first WTA title against second-seeded
Patty Schnyder, who beat Tatiana Golovin 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in Friday's
other semifinal.

Stosur beat Farina Elia despite four double faults in the first
game of the second set.

"I don't think there's necessarily any more pressure on me
tomorrow than there has been the whole week," Stosur said. "I
want to win the final and get my first title and hopefully it
happens at home."

Schnyder said her three-set match was a good test to prepare for
Saturday's final.

"I'm happy that I had a longer match," Schnyder said. "I'm
playing well and I had to step up my game because she was hitting
the ball really good today."
