Notes: The Giants have lost eight straight, matching
their skid last season under former coach Jim Fassel.
Six of the losses have come with rookie Eli Manning at
quarterback. ... Coach Tom Coughlin did not react to the
scathing attack on him in Sunday's New York Post - with
players under the veil of anonymity stated they hated
playing for the coach. General manager Ernie Accorsi
also refused to comment on the report. ... CB Will
Peterson was removed from the starting lineup by Coughlin
for arriving late to a team meeting. "Not starting, I
wasn't happy about that," Peterson said after Sunday's
latest loss at Cincinnati. "Being fined, I wasn't happy
about that. ... RB Tiki Barber, who was named to his
first Pro Bowl last week, defended Coughlin. "Playing
for Tom Coughlin takes a certain level of maturity,"
Barber said. "I think it's important for guys not to
try and fight the system because it's not gonna change.
It's just the way he is. I think guys understand where
he's coming from, but some may just not like it. It's
just a few, you get that on every team, in any year.
I can't say that's the feeling of the whole team or
even the majority."
