Rice will still start, but Robinson set to play

Seattle Seahawks: With Koren Robinson finally back on the active roster, the Seahawks could have all four of their top receivers on the field at one time Sunday when they play the Cardinals.

Coach Mike Holmgren said that Jerry Rice will start but that Robinson will play, according to a Seattle Times report. The other two top wide receivers are Darrell Jackson and Bobby Engram.

The coach added that Robinson, who missed one game for violating team rules and four more for a repeat violation of the league's substance abuse policy, didn't look rusty.

"He's moving well, and he caught the ball," Holmgren told the newspaper. "Now, to say that it's the same, I don't know. We'll see. To me, eyeball test, he passed."

New York Giants: The Giants placed
defensive tackle Norman Hand on injured reserve Saturday, ending
his season.

Hand, a 10-year NFL veteran, had not played since injuring his
groin in a Nov. 28 game against Philadelphia. He had 15 tackles and
one sack this season.

The team also signed offensive lineman Morgan Pears to its
active roster from its practice squad.

Pears was signed to the practice squad Sept. 21. First signed as
an undrafted free agent by Miami in 2003, Pears soon was released.
The Colorado State product then was signed to Pittsburgh's active
roster Dec. 31 and waived Aug. 27.

He played in 10 games for the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe
last spring.

The Giants play Cincinnati on Sunday.

Miami Dolphins: Although linebacker Zach Thomas felt good running at practice Friday, his hamstring did bother him some the morning after, according to a Miami Herald report.

Thomas, who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at San Diego, said he would be a game-time decision. He has missed the past three games and most of the one before that.

"It was grabbing on me a little," Thomas told the newspaper. "I mean, today was OK, but it's not game speed. ... I'm not going to put any pressure on myself."

Interim coach Jim Bates said after practice Friday that it looked like a go but that Thomas wouldn't play if problems developed between then and Sunday's kickoff.

Cincinnati Bengals: Coach Marvin Lewis said that running back Chris Perry, listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Giants, is out for the rest of the season with a sports hernia, according to a Cincinnati Post report.

Perry had been inactive for eight of the previous nine games with an injury that had been termed an abdominal strain. The team's top draft pick this year, Perry has just two carries for 1 yard and three catches for 33 yards.

"It's something that takes a while to come back from and the only way you can get it right is with rest," Lewis told the Post.
