Cricket-South Africa win toss and bat first against England

PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa, Dec 17 - South
Africa won the toss and chose to bat in the first test against
England in Port Elizabeth on Friday.

South Africa handed test debuts to opening batsman AB De
Villiers and fast bowler Dale Steyn, with batsman Hashim Amla
left out along with left-arm spinner Nicky Boje, who is
recovering from thyroid surgery.

England made three changes from the team who played the last
test against West Indies in August, bringing in batsmen Mark
Butcher and Graham Thorpe for Robert Key and Ian Bell, and fast
bower Simon Jones for James Anderson.

Jacques Rudolph, Jacques Kallis, Boeta Dippenaar, Zander de
