New York Yankees Team Report

After dropping the first game of the Subway Series, the Yankees
swept a Sunday doubleheader from the Mets to take the series.
The Yanks now host the Red Sox in a pivitol three-game set
beginning Tuesday... The Yankees are now 10-6 in interleague
play this season with three more games next weekend against the
Mets... The Yankees have won the last 14 games in which they
have not committed an error and are 29-4 in such games this
season. There was at least one error in every game against the
Mets this weekend... The Yankees are now 26-13 all-time in
regular season games against the Mets. The Yanks swept all six
games in 2003 and have taken two of the first three in this
weekend... SS Derek Jeter hit two home runs in the opener on
Sunday, giving him 13 for the season. Jeter has continued to
improve his hitting as he is now batting a a .264 clip... RHP
Jose Contreras pitched for the first time in front of his family
in the opener on Sunday. After struggling for most of the
season, Contreras went six innings, allowing only two hits in
the first game since his reunion with his recently defected
family...Tuesday's starter RHP Javier Vazquez is 0-3 with a 4.26
ERA in three starts against the Red Sox. HE is 0-2 with a 4.77
ERA in two starts this season. Pitching on three days rest for
only the second time in his career, Vazquez lost to the Sox 2-1
on April 25, giving up two runs on four hits.
