Soccer-Euro-England wait on sick Hargreaves

LISBON, June 20 - England midfielder Owen
Hargreaves is a doubt for Monday's final Euro 2004 Group B game
against Croatia after failing to recover from a stomach upset,
assistant coach Steve McClaren said on Sunday.

Hargreaves, who made substitute appearances in England's 2-1
defeat by France and 3-0 win over Switzerland, has now missed
training two days in a row.

"We're hoping in another 24 hours he'll be a lot better,"
McClaren told a news conference. "He's been very valuable to us
in the last two games."

McClaren also said fellow midfielder Nicky Butt was making a
good recovery from a knee injury and could yet return if England
reach the latter stages of the tournament.

"Already, he's jogging, running, up to three-quarter pace on
the treadmill...he's looking very optimistic," McClaren said.

"Hopefully, we'll last the next two weeks and he'll play a
part."
