Soccer-Uruguay's Nacional reach Libertadores second round

RIO DE JANEIRO, April 20 - Nacional reached the
second round of the South American Libertadores Cup by beating
El Nacional 3-2 on Tuesday while Independiente will play-off for
a place after losing by the same score at Cienciano.

Two goals from Alexander Medina, the second a penalty, and
one from Luis Romero helped Uruguay's Nacional finish top of
Group five with 12 points after their win in Montevideo.

Felix Borja and Luis Checa replied for the Ecuadorean army
club.

Independiente, who have won a record seven titles, finished
second with eight points despite losing to their Peruvian
opponents, who had already been eliminated.

Independiente's total means they will finish as one of the
worst four second-placed teams in the nine groups and will have
to play-off.

The Red Devils twice came from behind to level at 2-2 before
a late penalty by Paraguayan Carlos Lugo gave Cienciano a
consolation win in the Andean city of Arequipa.
