Redman Redman

Detroit Tigers: Last year, the Tigers were famously
awful while the Florida Marlins won it all. Mark
Redman escaped the former to be with the latter
via trade and everyone wanted to know why. Lynn
Henning of the Detroit News looks at the three
pitchers who came over in the Redman trade, one of
whom, Nate Robertson, is off to a very decent
11-inning start this year. Gary Knotts and Rob Henkel
(currently at Double A Erie) are the other two. Does
the deal make sense yet? A little bit more than it
used to.

New York Yankees: Can Jose Contreras really be this
bad? Staked to a nice lead by his mates yesterday, the
second-year player out of Cuba never made it out of
the third inning against the team that also coveted
his services when he fled the island two years ago.
Jack Curry examines his struggles in today's New York
Times. "I'm not angry at him or upset or
disappointed," manager Joe Torre told Curry. "It's
just something we're going to get right before this
thing is over because his stuff is electric. It's a
matter of him feeling what he's supposed to feel
like."
