Albarado wins six at Fair Grounds

NEW ORLEANS -- Robby Albarado rode six winners Thursday at Fair Grounds, equaling the track's single-day record. Albarado became the seventh jockey to win six races in a day here. Eddie Martin accomplished the feat earlier this meet.
Albarado won six with nine mounts Thursday. There were 11 races on the card, but the first was for Quarter Horses. Albarado won the first three Thoroughbred races, taking the second with Classiccanaveral ($9.80), the third with Rebel Gal ($3.40), and the fourth with Atchafalaya ($2.80.). He finished off the board in the fifth and sixth, didn't ride the seventh, and got back on track with another win when The Looper ($9.20) took the eighth race.

Albarado won the ninth with Stalkerazzi ($6.60), surviving a steward's inquiry, finished sixth in the 10th, and then equaled the record by guiding Crowd Watcher ($9.20) to a gate-to-wire victory in the nightcap.

The six wins gave Albarado 92 for the meet, 21 more than Shane Sellers, his nearest pursuer in the jockey standings.
