Kings get LW Cowan from Thrashers for LW Brennan

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings made a minor
deal Tuesday at the NHL trade deadline, acquiring Jeff Cowan
from the Atlanta Thrashers for Kip Brennan in a swap of left
wings.

Cowan, 27, has played 58 games this season, recording career
highs with nine goals and 15 assists.

"Jeff is a big, physical winger who forechecks well and is
strong around the net," Kings general manager Dave Taylor said.
"We like his work ethic and feel he will be a real good fit for
our team."

Brennan, a 23-year-old rookie, had one goal and 79 penalty
minutes in 18 games with Atlanta. He also played two games with
Manchester of the American Hockey League.

The Kings also activated defensemen Aaron Miller, Jason Holland
and Scott Barney from injured reserve and assigned Barney,
defenseman Tim Gleason and center Michael Cammalleri to
Manchester.

Miller, 32, missed 39 games with a pinched nerve in his neck and
shoulder. He also missed the first eight games of the season
while recovering from a fractured left wrist and has a goal and
two assists in 20 contests.

Los Angeles also has been without injured stars Jason Allison,
Adam Deadmarsh and Ziggy Palffy but are tied with St. Louis for
the final Western Conference playoff berth.
