Colorado State 78, IPFW 63

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- Joy Jenkins keyed a decisive
second-half run and had 18 points and six rebounds to lead Colorado
State to a 78-63 victory over Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne Friday
night.

Melissa Dennett and Lindsay Thomas had 12 points each in the
final tuneup before Colorado State (9-4) begins Mountain West
Conference play. The Rams won six of their final seven preseason
games.

Amy Gearlds had 23 points and seven rebounds to lead IPFW (5-9).
Courtney Nicley had 16 for the Mastodons, who had won three
straight.

IPFW was within 51-46 after baskets by Maggie Bruening and Verea
Bibbs with 10:46 remaining, but Jenkins had two rebound baskets and
finished a 12-0 run with two free throws with 8:01 left to give
Colorado State a 63-48 edge.

Four more points from Jenkins and a rebound basket by Thomas
gave Colorado State its biggest lead, 72-48. The Rams retired their
starters with 5:38 left.

Colorado State used a 12-0 run with six points from Thomas to
put the Rams ahead 22-8 midway through the first half. IPFW nearly
caught up and narrowed the gap to 35-30 by halftime.
