UCLA WR Perry will not return to team

LOS ANGELES - UCLA's offensive depth chart took a hit
Friday as wide receiver Tab Perry and tailback Tyler Ebell will
not be back next season.

Perry was dismissed from the school for academic reasons. He
did not play in 2003 because of academic difficulties, did not
make sufficient academic progress in the fall and was dismissed
from the school.

"We were hopeful that Tab would be able to rejoin the team for
the 2004 season but that didn't work out," coach Karl Dorrell
said. "We will do what we can to help place him at a Division
I-AA school and we wish him the best of luck in the future."

Perry caught 62 receptions for 1,172 yards and three scores over
his first three collegiate seasons.

Ebell, a sophomore, asked for and was granted a release from his
scholarship and will transfer. He met with Dorrell on Friday.

"We certainly wish Tyler the best of luck in the future,"
Dorrell said. "We hope that he will find a school that he feels
meets his needs."

Ebell had 501 yards and two touchdowns on 116 carries last
season, but the Bruins have four returning tailbacks, including
two who did not play for virtually the entire 2003 campaign.
